El origen de este caserío hay que buscarlo en las décadas siguientes a la conquista leonesa (1229) cuando comenzaron a formarse los adehesamientos reales que tenían por finalidad la defensa de las cabañas ganaderas pertenecientes al Concejo y sus pastos para salvaguardarlas de las incursiones de los rebaños mesteños que bajaban del reino de León. Esta facultad de acotamiento recogida en los Fueros fue posibilitando la creación de cortijos o incipientes caseríos cuando el aprovechamiento agro-ganadero creciente por las repoblaciones permitió el asentamiento en estos pequeños núcleos que corrieron suerte diversa, muchas veces efímera. El término de Cáceres era muy extenso, y se hacía necesaria la creación de estos poblados, seguramente aprovechando en ocasiones antiguos asentamientos romanos y árabes.
