| La estructura de edificio, que se proyectó a principios de siglo pasado sigue la concepción de "teatro a la Italiana", utilizada en todas partes a lo largo del siglo XIX. La voluntad del promotor del Teatro Carolina Coronado estaba en consonancia con el espíritu de creación de grandes espacios escénicos. Este teatro se concibió como una gran sala de unas dimensiones majestuosas, la altura entre el techo y el patio de butacas excedía de los 15 metros. Sobre ese espacio vertical se situaban las plateas, sustentadas por columnas de hierro fundido y los dos anfiteatros. El proyecto bastante ambicioso, ya que estaba concebido para albergar a 1.700 espectadores teniendo en cuenta que el Teatro Real de Madrid nació con un aforo de 1.800 espectadores. |
